Other Fine, Cat-Educational Websites

Although I don't always agree with their cat food reviews and/or ratings, there are other websites sites which publish valuable information about this subject. Beginning with the two already mentioned above:

A Special Mention: The 'NonHuman Rights Project'

Humans are not the only animals entitled to recognition and protection of their fundamental rights. The Nonhuman Rights Project is the only civil rights organization in the United States dedicated solely to securing rights for nonhuman animals. "We work to secure fundamental rights for nonhuman animals through litigation, legislation, and education.

"How should we relate to beings who look into mirrors and see themselves as individuals, who mourn companions and may die of grief, who have a consciousness of ‘self?’ Don’t they deserve to be treated with the same sort of consideration we accord to other highly sensitive beings: ourselves?" - Jane Goodall

"We are on the cusp of changing the legal relationship between nonhuman animals and humans. The time is now to push even harder, as hard as we can. And keep pushing until we win." - NhRP President Steven M. Wise

A Special Mention: 'Mark Twain At Play'

This website has a compendium of stories from Mark Twain, America's most prolific writer. "Twain was a lover of music and song, of cats and cigars, of charades and games; he was an enthusiastic inventor, an obsessive billiards player, a charismatic raconteur, a mischievous correspondent, and perhaps the most sought-after luncheon and dinner guest in America." "These many and varied leisure pursuits—and how Mark Twain's "play" influenced his "work"—are the subject of "Mark Twain at Play."

One of the sections of the 'Mark Twain At Play' website is titled "Cats & Billiards." It includes these stories:

  • A Cat-Loving Family
  • A Cat Tale
  • Concerning Cats: Two Tales by Mark Twain
  • A Kitten Joins the Game
  • Billiards at Stormfield
