It only takes a small amount of study to come to the conclusion that dry food and most canned food is detrimental to cats. There's plenty of evidence to prove that assertion.
Cats are obligate carnivores. This means that, for an optimal health, cats must consume fresh protein (specifically, muscle meat, organs, finely crushed bone, and supplements) with little to no carbohydrates (starches, vegetables, fruit etc.) - Doug Hines
Although Jasmin Bedria is not a licensed veterinarian or a veterinary medical professional of any kind, she's a premier independent researcher in cat nutrition, care and health information.
In her own words… This is “just a reminder of where I’m coming from when I share this information, not advice, but information that may be helpful to you. I’m not a veterinarian, I’m not a vet tech, I’m not a medical professional of any sort in the veterinary field. I’m an obsessive independent researcher. I work in the field of health and wellness and nutrition for humans, and arguably, most importantly, for the subject matter of [cats and raw feeding] - and I think over 200 videos that I’ve shared thus far on our cat-stuff playlist on YouTube - I am a devoted kitty Momma who started off with one cat” and went on from there.
[Doug's Note: Now, before any of you readers immediately dismiss Ms. Bedria because she doesn't have DVM behind her name I want to stop you right there. It is quite possible that someone can study and research cat nutrition without having been to a formal veterinary training institution. Moreover, it is quite possible for a layperson to be more educated in cat nutrition than a formally trained and anointed veterinarian, some of whom have only the most basic nutritional training. So don't dismiss Ms. Bedria before you have watched her videos. I, for one, fully endorse her work. I think Jasmin Bedria is one extraordinary woman.]

Those Annoying Vegans with Ana Valverde and Brian Ruppenkamp
As many of you have noticed, we have cats! AND we’re vegan! What to do!? Well, here’s our long-winded answer to one our most frequently-asked questions.
The manufacture’s website info and product label design doesn’t matter. Advertising doesn't matter. Internet product reviews and caregiver’s testimonials don't matter. Whether or not your cats’ “like” it doesn’t matter (all kids like junk food).
“If you are feeding canned cat food, the ONLY things that matter to your cats’ future and wellbeing are the ingredients in the can and the quality of those ingredients." - Doug Hines
